  • Greater Lafayette Wind Energy Project in Indiana

With nearly $2.2 million of TIGGER funding, this Greater Lafayette Wind Energy Project—to erect three wind turbines—is designed to provide energy savings for the Greater Lafayette Public Transportation Corporation (GLPTC).

  • Champaign-Urbana Geothermal HVAC System in Illinois

The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (CUMTD) is installing a geothermal heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system with funding from the TIGGER Program. This $450,000 project will reduce the fossil fuel used for the 15,000 square foot CUMTD administration building while cutting overall greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Ames Transit Agency Hybrid Buses in Iowa

When Ames Transit Agency, or CyRide, needed to replace 10 older diesel buses at the end of their service life, the transit agency looked to the TIGGER Program to cover the
incremental cost of upgrading its new buses with hybrid electric propulsion systems. Thanks to $1,600,000 in TIGGER funding, CyRide recently started operating its new
hybrid buses in and around Ames, Iowa.

  • Palm Tran Thermal Motor Fan Retrofit in Florida

Thanks to funding from the TIGGER Program, an inexpensive retrofit is helping Palm Tran’s diesel-electric hybrid buses become more reliable and efficient, while also improving the fuel efficiency of conventional diesel buses serving Palm Beach County, the largest in Florida.

  • Broward County MiniHybrid Thermal System in Florida

Between May 2010 and January 2011, Broward County Transit (BCT) in Pompano Beach, Florida, used a $2 million TIGGER award to replace bus cooling systems on 80 of
its 288 buses and achieved a 5% reduction in fuel use.

  • Solar Panel Project in Delaware

Two Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC) facilities are being retrofitted with solar photovoltaic (PV) systems under a $1.5 million TIGGER project. These solar panel installations will generate cost savings for DTC and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing the amount of fossil-fuelgenerated electricity purchased from the grid.

  • Denver Regional Transportation District Efficient Boilers at East Metro in Colorado

With a $325,000 TIGGER Program grant, the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) is replacing the outdated heating system at its 170,000 square foot Boulder, Colorado maintenance facility with new, high-efficiency boilers. This energy-efficiency upgrade is part of a larger Energy Enhancements Yielding Operational Returns and Efficiency (EEYORE) project at Denver RTD.

  • NYC °CoolRoofs

The NYC °CoolRoofs initiative encourages building owners to cool their rooftops by applying a reflective white coating that reduces energy use, cooling costs and carbon emissions. The program supports New York City’s goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2030, as outlined in PlaNYC – the City’s comprehensive sustainability plan.
