Purpose of this curriculum:
The Energy Efficiency Practitioner (EEP) Training Program is designed to provide attendees a concise, but comprehensive overview of practices for improving energy management and energy efficiency in buildings and across facilities. Many energy professionals use this program to develop their background knowledge before embarking on a path to the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Business Energy Professional (BEP) certifications.
How is the material administered?
Self-guided
Assessment Methods (e.g. testing)
Certifications and examinations are based on a defined Body of Knowledge. Registration for training does not constitute registration for the certification exam. To sit for the exam, candidates must register separately and pay an additional examination fee.
Programs for implementing training
The Energy Efficiency Practitioner (EEP) On-Demand Training Program offers the full-length version of the EEP program (8+ training hours), through pre-recorded sessions. Participants will also receive an electronic copy of the workbook to prepare for their exam.
Participants gain an understanding of energy management from a global perspective while also learning how to apply relevant codes, standards, and policies specific to their region or country. The course covers how building systems and energy-saving technologies—such as HVAC, lighting, motors, boilers, energy storage, and combined heat and power (CHP)—can be applied across buildings. It also explains how energy management strategies and practices, including energy audits and measurement and verification (M&V), help identify energy-saving opportunities and reduce costs. In addition, participants develop an understanding of the economic aspects of energy management related to procurement, supply, and project financing.
