Project Description

Assumption College Thonburi (ACT) is a large-scale educational institution offering education to mixed-gender students from primary one to secondary six, equivalent of grade one to twelve of the western system, in three different programmes —Regular Programme, Regular Programme, in association with Bell Language Centre, and English Programme. The school covers the total area of 32 acres and has 23 utilitarian buildings to serve 5,850 students for educational purpose. The school opens from Monday to Saturday, with a total of 2,128 annual operating hours. Based on the survey from 2014-2017, the energy consumption and electricity bills are found to have steadily increased, which represented a major source of expenses of the school.

As a consequence, ACT management team has been highly active in implementing numerous policies since 2011, in line with organisational goals and measures concerning energy and environmental conservation. Chief among them was promoting learning process and integrated learning by incorporating conservational practice, organising activities for the students so as to cultivate the sense of environmental consciousness and encouraging teachers, students, parents and community to participate in energy and environmental conservation, as well as adjusting school landscape to enhance touchpoints and improve the environments conducive to learning, both inside and outside classrooms.

The energy conservation projects launched from academic year 2015-2017, based on non-capital-investment and capital-investment plans, enabled the school to save the electricity of 752,264.74 kWh and to reduce the heat released from fuels at 2,441,802 MJ, which is equivalent to CO2 emission at 1,073 Ton CO2. All of these projects represent the monetary saving of approximately 4.48M Baht.

Estimated Savings

For over 4 years, ACT has continuously perform various energy saving projects. ACT board of directors also managed 16.20M Baht funding for educating our teacher/staffs, student, parent, school network and Communities around (5 Co-operations), developing our manage systems (Managements) , install renewable energy system, replacing old machine with high efficiency ones and maintenance equipment (Hardware) to maximize effectiveness of our energy consumption. Due to these developments ACT can reduce our energy consumption more than 752,264 kWh and 2,441,802 MJ of fuel.
