ST-1.3 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) is using less energy, saving money, improving air quality, and reducing its greenhouse gas emissions through the establishment of the Cleveland HealthLine Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route. The HealthLine route runs down 6.8 miles of Euclid Avenue from Downtown to East Cleveland, connecting the city’s cultural and educational institutions, medical and business centers, and all the countless businesses in between.

The 7 mile-line (of which 4.4 miles are dedicated bus lanes) carries over 12,300 riders per day – a 60% increase over the line it replaced, Route 6. The line boasts 58 stations, which come equipped with fare vending machines, generous seating, emergency phones, raised platform floors, and 24-hour lighting. 19 of the safe, wide, and weather-proof stations have an additional interactive kiosk to keep waiting passengers entertained.
